The precisely drawn illustrations are stylized depictions of colorful, exotic gardens full of absorbing detail. Some are reminiscent of medieval gardens with wattle fences, topiary trees, and crenelated towers; others have a distinct Eastern atmosphere. The book is a stimulating exercise in observational skills, ideal for primary-grade children or for adults to share with younger children.
