Odyssey of a Derelict Gunslinger is an inspiring story of John Camp's journey from a skid row curbside to national prominence as Senior Investigative Correspondent for CNN. In his career spanning more than three decades, the four-time Peabody award-winning journalist exposed the misdeeds of Governors, Congressmen, TV preachers, and an assortment of crooks in an era before broadcast deregulation and corporate greed reduced television news to drivel. He traveled the revival circuit with televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, secretly filmed Mafia dons, and flew alongside notorious dope smuggler, Barry Seal to a mythical "CIA" operations base. His Emmy-nominated CNN Whitewater documentary revealed journalism's vulnerability to the "Clinton Rules," a standard in which allegations are reported without corroboration. In Camp's parallel world of professional achievements, there is a more significant and inspiring story of how Twelve Steps gave him back his life.

About the Author:
John Camp is a Peabody-award winning reporter, who rode the crest of an investigative reporting tsunami that gained momentum in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal. He was among television's pioneer investigative reporters. In a thirty year career, he has collected multiples of every prize awarded for investigative journalism, including four Peabody medallions. A former CNN Senior Investigative Correspondent, his exposés covered a wide range of subjects ― the rise and fall of televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, the exploits of infamous international drug smuggler, Barry Seal, and the prosecutorial abuses by Whitewater Independent Counsel, Kenneth Starr. What makes Camp's achievments so remarkable is its genesis in 1971 in a New Orleans skid row gutter. He had given up on life, only to discover a new way of living. His accomplishments are a testament to sobriety. The father of nine children and step-children, he and his third wife, Annette, live in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
