From School Library Journal:
Grade 2-4?These three titles are sure to be popular with readers who like action and adventure. Each one focuses on an individual who has a hazardous occupation. Bomb Squad Officer features African American Timothy Hajj, and other unnamed men who remove and dismantle or detonate suspicious objects in Newark, NJ. Brief mention is made of the bombings in Lockerbie, Scotland; the World Trade Center; and Oklahoma City. Marine Biologist features Dr. Sonny Gruber, who has studied sharks for the past 30 years. Photojournalist John Isaac, a native of India, is an official photographer for the United Nations. This brief title documents his work in Sarajavo, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Nepal, Lebanon, Iraq, Southeast Asia, and the Persian Gulf. In all three books, the large print is inviting and the large, full-color photos are of excellent quality and well captioned. The "At Risk" series (Crestwood) has some similar titles, but is on a slightly higher reading level.?Eldon Younce, Harper Elementary School, KS

Review:
Well written, with attention-grabbing, full-color photographs and personal commentary from individuals in the jobs, these titles offer an interesting look at an unlikely side of the work world. Welcome additions to career sections, presented in large-print type and with ample spacing. -- School Library Journal, August 1995
