About the Author:

O. Henry, one of America's greatest short story writers, lived for years in Austin, where he absorbed much of the Lone Star culture and set many tales in the state. John Henry Faulk, a popular radio personality and folklorist, wrote his famous Christmas story about his hard-scrabble childhood, which National Public Radio broadcast annually for years. A.C. Greene, wrote books, articles and columns for years, earning many fans as a true voice of Texas. Mike Blackman, a native of Anson, who was an editor at the NY Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and Ft Worth Star-Telegram, won awards for his short stories. He teaches journalist at Baylor University. Jerry Flemmons covered everything from the JFK assassination to exotic vacations sports for the Star-Telegram, and was a playwright as well. Frank Perkins, a Fort Worth native, was an award-winning print and TV reporter in North Texas. Rancher-poet Larry Chittenden of Anson immortalized his town's annual Yuletide ball this his famous poem.
