This study was originally produced by Britain's Air Ministry in 1948, and was not primarily intended to be seen by the general public. Written by men and women with actual experience of intelligence operations against the Luftwaffe, this account drew on recently captured documents. Germany did not even have an air force in 1933, but by 1936 German pilots and aircraft were playing a decisive role in the Spanish Civil War.
