About Prologos Books
Mail-order book service founded by the late Lester Kanefsky (1916-2007); now managed by his son, Chris.
A 5* seller of books that are well described and packed with care, Prologos Books began in 1975.
My father was an antiquarian, new and secondhand bookseller specialising in Islam, Sufism, the Perennial Philosophy/Traditional Wisdom.
I revived the business, have been online from early 2006. Only a few of my inherited Arabic and French titles left.
Now listing a large varied selection of quality second-hand non-fiction including many art titles, photography, transport (cars and planes), aeromodelling plus collectable crime fiction books.

ROYAL MAIL PRICING UPDATE April 2013:
At the end of my book descriptions is the net weight in kilograms of the book, with information on whether reduced, standard or increased shipping costs apply.
STANDARD SHIPPING PRICE given in the AbeBooks system assumes that the parcel weighs up to 1kg (2.2 lb).
The EXTRA price is for an additional item up to 0.5 kg.
STANDARD prices relate to 2nd Class Post in the UK. PRIORITY is 1st Class Post.
Abroad: orders to the large Europe zone are all sent by the Air Mail Printed Papers service.
SURFACE mail is now only available to North America. Royal Mail cannot guarantee that books sent to REST OF THE WORLD (RoW) destinations will arrive within 60 business days (Monday-Friday).
Weight of postage categories have changed.
LARGE LETTER rates for slim books, journals and pamphlets remain the same (up to 35.3 x 25 x 2.5 cm); will normally be sent at a reduced price by 1ST CLASS POST for items up to 500 grams in weight.
Packets have been renamed SMALL PARCELS. These still cost £3.00 up to 1 kg, provided the parcel is not more than 8 cm in depth. Small parcels weighing between 1 and 2 kg cost £6.00. These are very well packed using double-wall COLOMPAC (German brand) book mailers for preference.
Unfortunately the new category of MEDIUM PARCELS ie thicker items and sets of books, plus extra large, overweight quarto and folio titles, weighing over 2 kg, now cost an excessive amount in RM postage. So these will normally be sent via a quality NEXT DAY SIGNED FOR COURIER SERVICE at £9.00. (A large box of books weighing up to 20 kg should also cost no more than £9.00 to send.) Please provide an address where someone will be present to receive the order.
A small reduction now for 0.750-1 kg parcels to RoW overseas destinations, eg USA and Australia, has been passed on but the categories no longer increase by 100 grams but by 250 gm. Thus items weighing between 250, 500 and 750 grams can cost more to post to both Europe and RoW.
All books sent remain fully insured worldwide at no extra charge.
