Ninth Thousand printing band. Preface dated to 1895. A good full red leather hardback with raised bands to spine, and gilt titles. Prize binding with gold armorial to front cover and prize presentation bookplate to first pastedown from Banstead School, dated to 1914. Some scuffing and wear to cover and spine is darkened and rubbed. Marbled endpapers with split to gutter after the first free endpaper. Small bookseller's stamp to first free endpaper. Some spotting to blank endpapers, but text is generally bright and clean, with just occasional marginal edge spotting. Marbled edges to text block. Text in English. 440pp. Dimensions: approx 194mm high x 145mm wide x 48mm deep. Weight: approximately 955g (unpacked). More photos on request.

Red binding with vivid illustration to front & orange, green, black & white, gilt figure & titles to spine which is faded to a lighter red. Wear with 7mm splits to spine-ends, corners are a little curled under, Page-edges all gilt. Foxing to preliminary pages. Ink gift inscription to title-page top dated 1895. Foxing to margins of text to majority of pages, foxing usually misses text itself. All b/w plates are present as listed. Binding is a little strained in places. An attractive old volume.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Deep dark, rich red cloth bound, hardback book, with beautiful gilt titles on both the front board and spine. Gilt edging to papers. This wonderful book is in good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent to age and use. Tissue guard paper still intact on title page with the odd brown mark, only to be expected of a book of this age. some slight wear to corners and top and base of spine. Pen and ink inscription on second blank page, showing the book was given as a school prize dated 1908. 440 pages all intact and good binding. All pages, text and illustrations are in really good, clean readable order. A truly lovely book that is worth preserving for future generations.
