0. Lynn Vallery 6. Ed. by Roger Bywater & Reid Shier. Vancouver 2010. Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König, Köln. 64 S. durchgehend mit meist farb. Abb., brosch. ***** Lynn Valley 6 is collaborative bookwork by New York artists Roe Ethridge and Cheyney Thompson. Ethridge is a photographer known for his clear depictive style and eclectic subject matter, while Thompson's most recent works are abstract and semi-epresentational paintings on canvas. Together, they have created a book that combines two highly diverse practices into a unique dialogue. Published in conjunction with a two-person exhibition at Art Basel Miami in 2009, Lynn Valley 6 includes selected documentary details of Thompson's paintings together with outtakes from Ethridge's commercial magazine work. Their juxtapositions, which at first appear haphazard, coalesce into an increasingly complex rumination on the creative process. Along with glimpses of both artists' studios, the book also includes notebook sketches, collages, fabric samples and color charts. Utilizing a collagist approach, Lynn Valley 6 presents each artist's work in a way never seen before.

Book
Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Invalid Format is an archive of the widespread activities of Triple Canopy, the New York-based magazine and publisher. The book translates into print work that originally appeared in other forms. The third volume of Invalid Format includes artist projects and literary work published online in the third and fourth years of Triple Canopy's existence, as well as documentation of public programs. In form and content, the book explores how works produced for the screen and live settings might be transposed to the codex in a way that recalls former contexts while also fully inhabiting the page. It includes contributions by Michael Almereyda, Kurt Beals, Mel Bochner, Daniel Bozhkov, Paul Chan, Joshua Cohen, Jordan Crandall, Simon Critchley, Moyra Davey, Roe Ethridge, Ellie Ga, Daniel Gordon, Vivian Gornick, David Graeber, Group Theory, Joseph McElroy, Tom McCarthy, Matt Mullican, Ken Okiishi, Eve Sussman, Lynne Tillman and McKenzie Wark, among others.
First Edition. Tall Octavo. (28cm. x 21 cm.) unpaginated. ills. Photo-illustrated gatefold wrappers. Heavy stock photo illustrated paper. Fine. "Special Guest" showcases two artists fascinated with the image as commercialism: Richard Prince and Roe Ethridge. In 2014, their very popular work was exhibited together at the Gagosian Gallery. Prince is most well known for his iconic "Cowboys" series which introduced his own technique of "rephotographing". Often using personal images, Ethridge's photography asks what is real and what is untrue -- a technique he has termed, "synthetic photography". In "Special Guest", the high color images walk that fine line between commercial and personal photography. This copy from an edition of 1,000.

Condition: Wie neu. Mack Books, London. 2012. First edition, second printing. New, mint, unread. Embossed hardcover. 250 x 285 mm. 206 pages. 200 colour plates. Perfect condition! Collector`s copy! "American artist Roe Ethridge`s latest book takes its title from the French `C`est pas du luxe`, an ironic phrase which alludes to the superfluous nature of luxury whilst proclaiming how essential it is to existence. Such paradoxes are fluently woven through Ethridge`s oeuvre and Le Luxe encompasses his practice from the past decade, without ever slipping into the moribund gravitas of a retrospective. Plumbing his diverse image inventories, from personal images and magazine commissions to an archive of online screen shots, the book continues his exploration of picture-making that disavows the potential for creating a finished work. Ethridge para-phrases Eggleston when he states that he is "at war with the finished" in an era of digital photography straining towards idealisation. The pristine conditions of photography are undermined in the book`s design and riff on Henri Matisse`s apposite aphorism `exactitude is not truth` (Matisse titled two of his paintings Le Luxe). Composed in three parts, Le Luxe contains an unusual backdrop, the everyday of the artist, who worked from November 2005 to January 2010 on one commission documenting a building in downtown Manhattan on a site adjacent to the World Trade Centre. This narrative offers an uneasy balance to the fissures between analogue and digital and Ethridge`s consistent undermining of his own certainties. Roe Ethridge was born in 1969 in Miami and received a BFA in Photography at The College of Art in Atlanta, GA. Ethridge`s images emanate from his direct experience of the world. His focus is multiple and restless as he works to capture the vivid and intimate details of his various locales. In doing so, he moves freely among the classic genres of the photographic medium - portrait, landscape, and still life" (from the publisher)***************Mack Books, London. 2012. Erstausgabe.
