Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. St. Hubert Guild, no date but circa 1902, the date of Appleton's copyright. This title one in the series Crown Gems of France, edited by Edmund Gosse, who has contributed a short bio of Feuillet in this volume. Critical intro by Henry Harland. Portraits of Octave Feuillet at back of book, a short bio essay by Octave Uzanne. This book has both 3 photogravure "portraits" (full-page illustrations) and a few "text portraits" (drawings from photos) in back essay. Overall condition of book very good. Bright, tight boards (maroon cloth, decorated front and spine). Some rubbing on back board. Corners a little rubbed. Little wear to backstrip extremities. Interior clean and unmarked, no stains. Maybe light discoloration (foxing?) on endpapers. Former owner's personal bookshelf (library) label inside front cover. Very light wear overall. xxxiii + 256 pp. Romance (story) itself on pp.1-248.
