Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. London. Partridge. 1883. First Edition. Hard Cover. Elaborate black birds on red cloth boards. The reverse board has a single black vignette. There is also an inlaid pink rose. The boards have some wear; rubbed along the spine junctions and both spine ends. Both endpapers have split so the binding is a little shaken. Text block and endpapers are toned. Monochrome frontispiece. The title page has some marginalia in light pencil which we have left. It includes the 1883 date and this was the first year of publication (verified online). However, the book might not be first edition. The scribe has also written the author's dates of birth and death, and a later name. We have listed a companion volume to this called 'Poppy' with the same decorative boards, author and publisher. This author wrote a number of Victorian titles like this and it retains charm despite wear. There are other black and white plates and chapter header drawings in the text. Publisher ads to the rear. Small 6x4. Happy to offer a discount for both with free postage as the book was kindly sent to me by an ABE customer.
