About the Author:

John Godolphin Bennett (1897-1974) began his career as a soldier, and military intelligence officer. In the 1930s he came to prominence as a technologist in the British coal industry, and during the Second World War served on several government science committees. He is widely known as a pupil of G.I. Gurdjieff, whom he met in 1920, and is the author of several books on Gurdjieff. At the end of his life, Bennett founded and directed the International Academy for Continuous Education, a school based on the teachings of Gurdjieff.
