Volume Three includes 15 lessons on the Gospel of Luke; 10 lessons on the Book of Genesis; 10 lessons on the Psalms, 5 lessons on Community and Relationships, 6 lessons on The Kingdom of God, and 4 lessons on Spiritual Gifts.

About the Author

 

David Albert Farmer, General Editor, is an ordained American Baptist minister. He earned his M.Div. (1981) and PhD in Homiletics with a minor in New Testament Theology (1984) from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is Visiting Professor of Preaching at Palmer Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and also teaches at Wilmington College in Delaware. He has served seven congregations and is now pastor of Silverside Church in Wilmington, Delaware. He was editor of Pulpit Digest for 18 years and The African American Pulpit for three years. He is author of Unmerited Favor: Teaching Sermons on the Love and Grace of God, Basic Bible Sermons on Hope, And Blessed is She: Sermons by Women, and Pilgrim Prayers for Single Fathers. He has contributed to several journals and additional books including The Storyteller's Companion to the Bible.



Anne Crumpler comes from a long line of preachers, teachers, and writers; she learned Theology, Bible, and English grammar over the dinner table. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Chatham College and a Master of Religious Education from St. Meinrad School of Theology.

Anne has been an assistant editor in the Department of Youth Publications, the United Methodist Publishing House, and is presently a freelance writer and editor.

Anne is a contract editor for The Upper Room Daily Devotional Guide and for Devo’Zine. She has written bible lessons for Mature Years and Daily Bible Studies, commentary for The New International Lesson Annual, articles for Devo’Zine and Alive Now, devotions for The Upper Room Disciplines and 365 Meditations for Families, sermon helps for What Difference Would It Make? (a program of The Upper Room), and study guides for Lent offered on-line by The Upper Room. She co-authored On This Rock for Abingdon.

Anne lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, David. They have two spectacular children, Rachel and Benjamin.



J. Andrew McTyre is pastor for the Park Central Presbyterian Church in Syracuse, New York. He is also a Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and holds a Masters of Divinity degree in pastoral counseling from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He also did graduate work at Rüshlikon Theological Seminary and the Jung Institute in Zürich and at Emory University in Atlanta. His experience includes serving as Co-Pastor with his wife, Sarah, at a united UCC and PCUSA church in Oswego, New York. He was the founding therapist of the Oneida Counseling Ministry in Central New York. He has also supervised a residential drug and alcohol program and taught pastoral counseling at the seminary level. He has published in Pulpit Digest and Word and Witness.



Sarah S. McTyre is an ordained Presbyterian minister and serves as a consultant for Christian Education in Central New York. She holds a B.A. in English literature from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina and a Master of Divinity degree with honors work in pastoral care from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. She also did graduate work in Pastoral Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Her experience includes serving as Co-Pastor with her husband, Andrew, at a united UCC and PCUSA church in Oswego, New York. She was the Assistant Dean of Faculty at Columbia Seminary and served pastorates in Alabama and Georgia. She has published in the Journal of Pastoral Care and Pulpit Digest and has published liturgical resources for the Presbyterian Church (USA).

 



Kenneth H. Carter Jr. is Resident Bishop of the Florida Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. He is a moderator of the Commission on a Way Forward and in 2018–2020 will serve as president of the Council of Bishops.
Bishop Carter is the author of ten books, including Pray for Me, A Way of Life in the World, The Gifted Pastor, and Near the Cross. He is a contributor to Feasting on the Word and The Wesley Study Bible. He formerly served as senior pastor of Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his ministry was described by the American Religious Historian Diana Butler Bass in her Christianity for the Rest of Us, and superintendent of the Smoky Mountain District in Western Northern Carolina, which included seventy churches across seven counties, all in the region of Appalachia.
