Synopsis

Sandygrove is a town on the bottom of the sea. In it, fish go about their lives just the same as we humans. Within this town there are good and bad fish. So to keep the law they have a police force. These series of stories are about the goings on in and around this place. The main character is Billie Bass who is a private eye. He will have to use all of his cunning to outwit the crooks and get them put into jail!

Two hours before the ransom deadline, all was in place. Joe Flounder and Ray Dab took up their positions near to the wreck. Ray Dab swam over to where there was a large clump of seaweed and started to move it from side to side. At the same time, he started fanning the sand with his tail to stir it up to make a cloud that would rise up in the water. When the two dogfish guards spotted this, they moved away from the doorway to see what was going on.
Joe Flounder waited until the coast was clear, then he signalled to Billie.
 
  Billie then turned to his old friend Paul and said, "It's all down to you now, are you sure that you can handle it?"
Paul gave a big smile and said, "Just you wait for my signal."
Billie also smiled as he watched Paul move slowly away.
 
  "What is going to happen now!" asked Jack, "Will my daughter be alright?"
  "I hope so!" said Billie, "everyone is ready in their positions, we will just have to wait and see what happens next?"
 
  Everyone held their breath as they waited for something to happen. The Seabed was eerily quiet and where ever you looked only the seaweed was swaying back and forth in the current. Then from out of the stillness came the sound of, BANG, CRASH.
  Now all eyes were watching the wreck.  Clouds of sand and bits of wood suddenly started to fly upwards making it hard to see just what was going on. It looked like there was a big thunderstorm happening with all the banging and flashing of light. The strange thing was that it was only coming from the inside of the old wreck!
 
  "What's happening?" said Jack.
  "It has begun!" said Billie.
  "What has?" shouted Jack.
 
  Just then, the door on the wreck suddenly flew open and members of Vic's gang swam out in panic and quickly disappeared into the darkness of the sea. They were then closely followed by Vic Shark himself.
  The look on Vic's face was one of sheer panic especially when he turned and saw that Paul was following close behind him. Vic knew that he needed to get away from Paul quickly and the only quick way was up!
 
  Using his powerful tail, Vic soon out swam Paul.  He looked back and began to laugh out loud, as he saw the gap between himself and Paul getting bigger.
Then, CRUNCH, BANG!
 
  Vic never knew what had hit him because waiting up above were two police officers, called Phil Dolphin and Bill Porpoise. Neither of them liked Vic and they knew that he was much stronger than they were. So, they stopped him the only way they knew how. That was by ramming him from both sides at once with their very hard noses, which knocked the wind out of him.
 
  This then made it easy for them to arrest him and take him to jail. Meanwhile, while all this action as taking place, Billie and Jack swam into the wreck and freed Judy.
When Jack told his daughter what Billie had done to save her, she swam across to Billie and gave him a big kiss!
 
  "There is just one question?" said Jack, "Why did Vic panic when he saw Paul?"
  "It's simple," said Billie, "Paul's an ELECTRIC EEL and Vic is terrified of them!"

The watery world that lies beneath the waves, is an alien place for us, as our world would be for the fish that live down there.
These series of stories are about a town called Sandygrove. It lies on the seabed close to a ledge that drops away to over a thousand feet. This town like any of ours, has it's good and bad people living in it. So, to keep the peace, they have a police force that are made up of Dolphins and Porpoise.
Billie Bass is a Private Eye. his job is to take on the jobs that the local police are unwilling to do. In these storis you will read about some of the things he gets up to.
