M.L Smoker is a teacher and administrator on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana, home of the Assiniboine and Sioux tribes. She is an enrolled member of both tribes. She holds a BA from Pepperdine University and an MFA from the University of Montana and also attended the University of Colorado and UCLA.
