The Wood River Baptist District Association is the oldest, continuously living Black Baptist association in America, standing on the shoulders of a long history of strengths and accomplishments, looking over into the promised land of the twenty-first century....After over a hundred and fifty-six years of rising responsibly to spreading the Gospel...even under many adverse circumstances, Wood River Baptist District Association stands on the threshold of a new century, still believing that the same faith in God and commitment to His purposes, which has been the key to survival and success over these many years, will enable the association to fully rise to the new opportunities to serve Him. This volume picks up the story of this prophetic image, and moves it across the threshold of the twenty-first century and on into the first decade of that new age.
