Telling children's stoeis comes naturally to this author/children's librarian. She has been awarded the Fuller Award for outstanding services to the community from the Wisconsin Library Association and a Facts on File Award from American Library Association for outstading programming.
Ms. Midgett graduated from the Ringling School of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration. This is her debut into the world of book illustration.
In this clever cumulative tale, Farmer Felandro heads to bed early. There’s so much to do tomorrow, and he wants to get plenty of rest. But a couple of maaaa maaaas remind him he hasn’t taken in the baby goats. When the goats are settled, once again the farmer says, “I’m soooo tired. . . . Morning comes early.” Then comes the brrruff of the dogs, who awoke when he slammed the door. As soon as the dogs are put in the hayloft, the cows wake up; and so it goes. When Farmer Felandro tries to undo all that he has done, the fun continues. This combines a neatly planned story (with the repetition kids enjoy) and artwork that “milks” all the humor. Resembling woodcuts and executed in earthy colors—haystack yellows, grassy greens, barn browns—the pictures use unusual angles and flurried activity to extend the fun. Of which there is plenty. First published in a bilingual edition called Oh, Crumps! / ĦAy, Caramba! (2003). Preschool-Grade 1. --Ilene Cooper
