That is the premise of this richly illustrated, chronological study of Burgundy's contribution to medieval art. Beginning in the 11th centruy, Droste discusses the Romanesque and Gothic periods, focusing on Cluny, Vezelay, sculpture and Cistercian art. The final section looks at the 14th and 15th centuries, the age of the Grand Dukes. German text.
