About the Author

Carl Robinson is an American-born journalist who has lived in Australia since 1977. He holds a BA (cum laude) degree in International Relations from University of Redlands, California and speaks French, Vietnamese and Swahili. He joined Associated Press (AP) in 1968, covering the war in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia until 1975. Posted to Sydney, he later resigned to live permanently in Australia and became Special Correspondent for Newsweek magazine. He has traveled widely throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific and is now semi-retired, living on his farm in New South Wales.
