Modern hardback binding with gilt lettered spine, original covers retained; firm and square, strong joints. Contents sound and clean, just mildly toned. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Note: this is a signed presentation copy, hence the retained upper wrapper shows a signed inscription from the author to the ornithologist Charles Vaurie. The upper cover also shows Vaurie's name and his personal bookplate is affixed to the front pastedown. In addition, this copy was formerly owned by the noted bird artist Martin Woodcock, and so his name is showing at the endpaper. Size: 250mm x 150mm; pp. 332, illustrated with 25 text-photos, and complete with 1 full page photo-plate and a folding map. Thus a very good copy with an interesting provenance. Scarce.
