Rare hand-colored engraved print, reproducing the famous John Trumbull painting of the presentation of the Declaration of Independence to the Continental Congress. Very good to excellent condition, with small chips at edges, minor blemishes, one short tear in from right side and one small mended tear to the printed surface. Publishers are listed along the bottom and includes Knoedler in New York, Coupil & Co. in Paris, London, and Berlin. Engraved by Alexander Jazet. The large (12x18 feet) original of this painting hangs in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol building. A smaller version painted by Trumbull is at the Yale University Art Gallery. This is a beautiful and faithful 19th century French engraving of an iconic American scene. This was an early, possibly the first, print taken from Trumbull's painting. Seller Inventory # p00049
