Approx. 70, wraps, 45 color maps (many fold-out), spine and cover edges faded, ink notation on spine and rear cover. Formerly from the library of Eugene DeFriest Betit; his private library stamp on front cover, rear flyleaf, and the back of one of the maps. The maps are multi-colored and show disposition of forces; some maps have military units identified. The maps cover battles from Marathon until the defeat of the Third Reich, and include Napoleonic era, Port Arthur, World War I, Russian Civil War, and World War II (Great Patriotic War). All texton the maps is in the Russian language. It appears that this was the map volume of a two-volume work published by the Soviet Government as instructional material for military personnel. This item would not have been sold commercially when new, and likely relatively few copies have survived and fewer have reached the West. Seller Inventory # 50713
