Description: This scarse plate originates from: 'Reizen in Opper- en Neder-Egypten, geduurende de Veldtogten van den Generaal Buonaparte.', translated from the French work (Voyage dans la basse et la haute Egypte (Journey in Lower and Upper Egypt), published as two volumes in 1802 by V. Denon by E.A. Kendal) Published in The Hague, J.C. Leeuwestijn, 1803.Artists and Engravers: Dominique Vivant, Baron de Denon (1747-1825) was a French artist, writer, diplomat, author, engraver and archaeologist. He was appointed first director of the Louvre Museum by Napoleon after the Egyptian campaign of 1798-1801. He accompanied Napoleon on his Expedition into Egypt. Engravers of this ed.: Reinier Vinkeles (Dutch 1741-1816) and Daniel Vrijdag (Dutch 1765-1822). Condition: Excellent; General age related toning; Occasional light staining.
