Minor light stain to edge of front endpaper, else a better than very good, unmarked, tight and clean copy in bright cover gilt. Comes in a custom-made thick archival Mylar jacket.

Signed 1st printing of first edition of Lewis' scarce third book, illustrated by Norman Rockwell. Spine dulled but legible, else a very good copy, hinges tight and front board bright. No dust jacket. Frontispiece by Norman Rockwell, one of his first book illustrations. Ink PRESENTATION from the AUTHOR on the front endpaper reads: "To Robert Lang from the heroic driver of this caravan - Sinclair Lewis". Tipped in adjacent is a newspaper photo of Lewis and his new bride, Dorothy Thompson with the caption "HONEYMOON ON WHEELS SINCLAIR LEWIS who introduced Mr. Babbit to the World, Embarking, With His Bride, at Oxford for a Caravan Trip Through England (Times World Wide Photos)". Lang was Lewis's close friend and physician. In archival acetate jacket. A contemporary blog elaborates: "So attached to his portable typewriter was American novelist and playwright Sinclair Lewis that in 1928 he took it with him on his honeymoon. And his new wife, the journalist Dorothy Thompson, seemed amused. He even found time to use it on the steps of the specially-built 17-foot long caravan in which Lewis and Thompson spent three summer months touring England and Scotland from May-August 1928.
