During Timothy's imagined buffalo hunt, Stock effectively expands the pictures, making them double-page spreads with a dream-like quality to signify the transition from one plane to another; the type face also changes for the story that Grandpa tells. A complementary feature of this story is its handling of old age. Comments are made about Grandpa's frequent tiredness, reminiscences, and mature wisdom.
