Hardcover. Condition: Good. This book, published in 1946, is in Good condition. There is no dust jacket, as issued. The cover is clean, but lightly faded. There is a newspaper clipping about birds taped to the back of the front cover. The text block is separating from the cover. I found no marks. The book comes from a smoke free home. I will ship the book with Media Mail through the US Post Office within 2 business days, usually sooner.

Unstated edition, though 1906 & 1909 are the only dates on the copyright page. Soft cover with no jacket. 5-3/4" by 3-3/8" (pocket sized), 229 numbered pages followed by 6 unnumbered pages of ads for other guides; every entry for a bird, from page 17 to 208, has a 2 1/4" x 1-5/8" color picture. This book is in fair-to-good condition: the black leatherette exterior is worn, with a few wrinkles on the front cover and a 1/2" tear at the top rear gutter; but the front cover is hanging on by a thread--there are tears from the top and bottom of the front gutter and they are about 1/8" from meeting. The interior shows its usage: pages are lightly curled (from top to bottom, as though it was held and squeezed a bit) and the title/copyright page is stuck to the FFEP at the gutter and has a 1/2" horizontal tear from the spine inward. The contents, however, are in good condition--all pages, though lightly curled, are clean, free of writing, stray marks and stains and any paper damage (other than the curling). Various indices at the rear ("3. Birds with yellow as a prominent color") are also intact and useful. Overall, a good condition book in somewhat fragile condition.

The book is wrapped in red slipcase. --- A tightly-bound, well-preserved copy, though with prior owner's penciled info. to front paste-down. Fair-only slipcase with large open tear at one end & other tears, else mostly intact.; 3-1/2" tall x 5-1/2" wide (oblong 64mo-3 to 3-1/2 in. tall); 238, (2) pages.

The top and bottom of box are detached from one another. Small 1" piece of box torn off. One side of box detached. Book has creases and minor wear. Pastedowns and free end papers browned.

This is the 1926 Hardback edition complete with llustrated slip case, it is bound in faux green leather with the titles in gilt on the spine and front board, the front board also has a bird motif in gilt. The book measures 3½" x 5¾", it has 228 pages + a 12 page publishers catalogue at the rear and is very well illustrated with colour plates. The slip case has a 2" split along the bottom edge, the front and rear boards have a feint vertical crease, otherwise, the binding, slip-case and contents are in very nice clean, sound condition.
