Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. There is a longish inscription by the author to Cambridge academic Ian Jack on the front free endpaper: 'To Ian Jack, The dust jacket is not my responsibility; the binding owes something to the Boat Race; the content, I leave to your judgement and hope to send you better things later, Michael.' The reference to the boards relates to the fact that the front and rear panels are divided diagonally into a dark blue and a light blue half. The corners of the boards are bumped. The jacket has some rubbing to the edges and light chipping at the corners and top and bottom of the spine. First printing. Signed by Author(s).
