The four are: Alligators All Around, An Alphabet; Chicken Soup with Rice, A Book of Months; One Was Johnny, A Counting Book; and Pierre, A Cautionary Tale in Five Chapters and a Prologue. Each volume: hardcover, bound in decorated red cloth, in dust jacket; 32 - 48 pages; color illustrations throughout; 6.8 x 9.4 cm. All are Fine in a Fine dj; they appear as new. Illustrated paper-bound card slipcase; 7 x 10.2 x 4 cm. Fine with a hint of rubbing to the extremities. The slipcase has been SIGNED BY SENDAK to one side and inscribed "For Scott" to the opposite side. A later edition with ISBN numbers. Books ship the next business day, wrapped in padding, in a box.

Chicken Soup and Pierre are paginated; the other two are not. The box is holding up with scuffs and one small tear. We made dust jackets for this set from our first edition set. The previous owner, little Ransom, has his name on the pastedown endpapers. He even illustrated the free endpaper in "One Was Johnny" and attempted to write his name on the front boards. A charming intact set.

Books are unread or very lightly read with tight binding. Dust jackets show wear on rubes, bumped spines, worn paper surfaces, especially at spine, and sun fade. Slipcase is shelfworn with rubbed surfaces.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Reprint. 10 cm. Copyright date only. No ISBN. Chicken Soup has the blue/green bar on the dust jacket indicative of a reprint. A set of four titles in a slipcase. The books and the dust jackets have a tiny amount of wear to the spine ends and the corner tips. I believe the spines are sunned. Pierre has a tiny mark to the cloth of the upper board, possibly a flaw in the cloth. Otherwise they have virtually no discernable wear. Lightly, if ever, read. The sleeve has a sticker pull mark, and some rub wear at the corners. A very sweet set of children's stories by Maurice Sendak.

Titles: One was Johnny; Pierre; Chicken Soup with Rice; Alligators All Around. Each is fine, in mauve boards decorated in brown. Dust jackets lightly sunned at spines, with 1/8 inch tear to end of One Was Johnny. Slipcase has a tiny bit of rubbing at corners. The yellowish stripe at the foot of jacket of Chicken Soup with Rice indicates first printing. All in all a near fine to fine set.

Hard Back / Miniature in Dj. Condition: Good Clean Cond. Fully Illustrated (illustrator). Box retains beautiful color and shows someedgewear. Books and jackets are both in nice condition for the age. Except for the spine corners of Firefly and Night Before, which each have one slightly chipped/worn/frayed corder. Otherwise in good plus condition, some wear to edges, as normal for age. Overall good copy of this scarce title. Excellent read. A good book to enjoy and keep on hand. Or would make a great gift for the fan / reader in your life.
