Its more than possible that Alan was the Rev.Alan Jenkins (1903-1971) who was a member of the Amherst College Class of 1924 later the pastor of the First Congregational Church Galesburg Ill (1936 and Sandburg's home town). He wrote on Sandburg and formed a friendship, serving in the board of directors of the Carl Sandburg Association. His papers are at Amherst.
