Ninth impression of the first edition, housed in a matching ninth impression, stated, DJ. This copy is incredibly signed by six von Trapps on the front endpaper, along with Father Franz Warner. The ensuing page contains the names of each of the signee's in light pencil. The signatures of the following von Trapps are present on the front endpaper: Agathe, Maria, Werner, Hedwig, Eleonore, and Johannes. Also included is Father Franz Wasner's signature at the top. As for the book, the binding and hinges are strong and sound. Gray cloth covers are stamped in red. Gray panels are bright and clean and the red title oval on the front cover is bright and unmarred. Red titles on backstrip are equally as bright and unmarred. A touch of shelf-rubbing at heel and crown of backstrip. Endpapers show minor light soiling. Small faint toning along top of front endpaper where Agathe's (Liesl in the Sound of Music) obituary, along with Maria's obituary were paper-clipped. The following page shows the tiny paper-clip ghost. Both obituaries, from 2010 and 2014, respectively, have now been slid into a small acid-free sleeve, and tucked into the rear flap of the DJ protector. As for the original 1951 DJ, it is price-clipped. The front flap states Ninth Printing, matching the copyright page's ninth impression statement. The DJ has a handful of small shallow chips along flap-fold corners, and at head and heel of spine. A touch of light sunning to red hue on DJ spine. An incredibly rare multi-signed offering of the classic book that inspired the Broadway smash hit, and Academy Award winning film, The Sound of Music. A rare plum for any serious collector.
