Cover artwork by Edgar Hodges based on original puppets designed by Ivor Wood for the TV series. ; B&W Illustrations; 192 pages; Building work threatens the Wombles' burrow, Great Uncle Bulgaria decides it's time to move. So Orinoco and Bungo are sent off on a top secret scouting mission to Scotland where they might the fierce Clan Wombles. Meanwhile, Wellington and Tomsk find themselves exploring the garden of a very important person indeed!

1st edition, 1st impression., 1970. Book size - c. 8 x 5 inches, pp. 182 + 1 (blank) + 1, numerous b&w illustrations (some full page) in the text, top edge coloured blue, hardback in dustjacket. Book condition - Very Good ; ex-lib with one stamp on the title page but none elsewhere, contents very clean, no inscriptions, no foxing, no library ' furntture' inside the front board or on the flyleaf , inner hinges intact and binding firm ; publisher's turquoise cloth with title in gilt on the spine ; boards' corners with very little wear and just lightly bent, boards' edges all good, back very clean and with two old tape marks (tape removed) c. 2-3 cm at the top and bottom edges, spine complete with ends with little wear, a little faded and just slightly creased, spine colour not faded and gilt title complete and bright, front board very clean and with tape marks similar to rear. Dustjacket - Very Good ; front corners a little rubbed, dj edges all good, back very clean, spine complete with ends just a little rubbed, spine not faded and title very clear, no library marks/numbers, front very clean ; dj. in 'Supasleeve' paper-backed clear and protective cover. Please see photos for indications of condition and contents. A well preserved copy of the first edition.

Neat inscription on front free endpaper and a little faint foxing otherwise very good. Dust jacket near complete but price-clipped and with some tears. Inscription and doodle on back flap.

Square and tightly bound book, faded to top of spine and lower end of upper hinge, faint toning to page edges. Taped repairs to DJ spine and creasing and wear to DJ edges.no inscriptions of marks.

A first edition first printing published by Ernest Benn Limited in 1970. The book is near fine with no inscriptions and clean pages in a very good clipped wrapper with creasing and wear to the extremities and one chip to the bottom of the rear panel.
