Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. RARE title. FIRST EDITION. Illustrated in colour throughout. Includes full-colour frontispiece plate. Charming 1950's illustrations by F.H. Woof. Apart from the full-colour covers & frontispiece, all illustrations are b&w with one additional colour added (either blue, red, green, or orange). Every page is adorned with either one or two large illustrations, however some pages feature a comic-book-style layout with several illustrations. One double-page spread features a dice game. The volume contains a total of 18 short adventure stories (some rhyming), plus 3 pages with puzzles, & the dice game. The children's TV show "The Adventures of Twizzle" ran from 1957 to 1959. There were a total of 52 episodes. This book was published in 1958, in the middle of the show's run. "The Adventures of Twizzle (or simply Twizzle as it was known in some territories) is the very first television show produced by AP Films and specifically Gerry Anderson (creator of the 'Thunderbirds' series), after being approached by author Roberta Leigh (who also co-produced with Anderson) and her colleague Suzanne Warner. Twizzle - from whom the series gets its name - is a boy doll with the ability to extend (or 'twizzle') his legs and arms. He wears a pixie-like hat and has a cat companion known as 'Footso'. Although a boy, he was voiced by a woman, Nancy Nevinson who also narrated the series. The series follows his adventures as he uses his abilities to get out of trouble. In all, 52 episodes were made in black and white, although only the first, Twizzle and Footso, is believed to survive and was included as an additional feature on the boxed set of the entire series of Space Patrol released in 2003." Wikipedia notes that "there was a British annual brought out in 1960 by Birn Brothers Ltd, called More Twizzle Adventure Stories which is now very rare", however no mention of this particular earlier title published in 1958. Printed in Great Britain. Bound in publisher's original bright full-colour pictorial white laminated boards, with one-colour pictorial endpapers. No dustjacket issued. Slight handling wear, very mild toning to boards, former owner's ink inscripton to verso of ffep, minimal penciling within, light marginal foxing (due to cheap paper), otherwise overall a very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. 93pp. VERY RARE & collectible. SB-42.
