Square 12mo, pp 54, [8, adverts], printed on rectos only throughout, frontispiece, title vignette and 13 plates, all with original hand-colouring, bound in original green blindstamped cloth, lettered in gilt to upper board, slight wera to spine ends, minor spotting or soiling to one or two leaves, but generally a very good clean sound copy, FIRST EDITION THUS; the date is suggested by Osborne, based on an earlier version of the story published by Newman with these same illustrations 'probably by R. Stennett.sometimes attributed to Richard Scrafton Sharpe and Mrs. Pearson'. A very nice copy of a charming mid-century hand-coloured chapbook.
