Limited edition, one of 25 copies, this being no. 12 presented to Dr. Fritz Wentzel, with the bookplate of his son, Volkmar Wentzel, who worked for National Geographic for forty-eight years. Volkmar Wentzel's photographs were exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian, et al. His father, Dr. Wentzel was a a distinguished photo-chemist and dedicated photographer who like Alfred Stieglitz, studied under Professor Dr. Hermann Vogel, the celebrated scientist and early champion of photography as an art form.
