First edition. 8vo. Printed wrappers bound in cloth. 13 stapled pages, double columns. Eberstadt 114:769 says: "Printed in a few copies for the family. Narrative of the Texas Indian uprising of 1868, and of Sheridan's winter campaign against them." When General Sherman requested support from Crawford, Governor of Kansas, Crawford asked for volunteers and Horace Moore joined the Nineteenth Kansas Cavalry as Lieutenant Colonel. He gives accounts of Custer and the Washita Fight and their efforts after the battle to subdue the remaining in Oklahoma and Sweetwater, Texas, Satanta and Lone Wolf included. Also contains the capture of Mrs. R. F. Blinn and her two-year-old son. Moore writes a vivid narrative of the expedition against the Kiowas and the Comanches which resulted in forcing the Kiowas, Comanches, Cheyennes, and Arapahoes onto their reservation. "Moore joined the Nineteenth Kansas Volunteer Cavalry in 1868 as a lieutenant colonel to assist in subduing hostile Indians who were raiding settlers in Kansas. He covers the Battle of the Washita, and later the capture of Satanta and Lone Wolf."--O'Keefe 1668. This item is considered to be rare and the last copy to appear in public auction was in 1965.
