There's nothing so brittle as a kid's bones and nothing so fragile as its heart, she warned them. Hold her lightly. And she made the children promise never to tie Frasquita up. She was a beautiful and joyous little creature. When she cried, her voice was like a real baby's voice, and when she danced her small hooves made a pretty sound against the path. Tap! tap! tap-a-tan! One day she led tbe children to an enchanted hollow in the woods. But when the children wanted to return, Frasquita would not always lead them there. So they forgot their promise. They tied her up and set out to search for the hollow themselves. But when they finally found it the magic was gone. They knew then that the little goat herself was part of the enchantment they had found. There are ten full-page pictures in full color and many drawings in black and white including the endpapers. Stanzas used in the text are from Infant Joy and The Lamb in Songs of Innocence by William Blake. In 1942 Harper & Brothers celebrated their 125th anniversary and the on there is a full page interesting history of the company on the back of the dust jacket.
