Synopsis:

Claude Esteban was born in 1935 in Paris. In addition to five other works of poetry, Mr. Esteban has published several collections of essays and translations. His important article De la poesie comme insurrection (Poetry as Insurrection), the foreword to the French edition of Octavio Paz's Ladera este, first appeared in English translation in Octavio Paz: Homage to the Poet published by KOSMOS in 1981. Transparent God is Mr. Esteban's second volume of poems to appear in English and follows White Road: Selected poems of Claude Esteban (also translated by David Cloutier) published in 1979.
