A lovely collection of twelve crime and detective fiction novels by John Newton Chance, each a first edition in the original dust wrapper. A wonderful collection of first editions, first impressions by John Newton Chance, the pseudonym used by author John Lymington for his crime and thriller novels. Many of these first editions are very scarce, and each retain the brightly illustrated original dust wrapper.The dust wrappers of 'Aunt Miranda's Murder', 'The Twopenny Box', 'The Man in my Shoes' are clipped, with the remaining nine dust wrappers unclipped.In order of publication, present here are:The scarce 1951 first edition of 'Aunt Miranda's Murder'.The very scarce 1952 first edition of 'The Twopenny Box'.The first edition of 'The Man in my Shoes', published in 1952.The scarce 1953 first edition of 'The Jason Affair'.The uncommon 1953 first edition of 'The Randy Inheritance'.The scarce 1954 first edition of 'The Jason Murders'.The very scarce 1954 first edition of 'Jason and the Sleep Game'.The very scarce 1956 first edition of 'A Shadow Called Janet'.The scarce 1956 first edition of 'The Last Seven Hours'.The very scarce 1957 first edition of 'Dead Man's Knock'.The very scarce 1958 first edition of 'Man with Three Witches'.The scarce 1960 first edition of 'Lady in a Frame'.Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper of 'The Last Seven Hours' and 'Lady in a Frame'. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with three dust wrappers clipped, and the remaining unclipped. Bumping to back strip heads and tails, otherwise externally excellent. Light rubbing to front board of 'Aunt'. Significant loss to front wrap of 'Twopenny'. Neat tape repair to reverse of dust wrapper head of 'Jason Murders', and tape repairs to reverse of closed tears at front wrap of 'Sleep Game'. Losses to heads of each dust wrapper back strip, with smaller losses of three dust wrappers. Instances of edge wear and closed tears to wrap perimeters, with sunning or discolouration to four back strips. Inscriptions to two front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, but generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 880F23
