INSCRIBED by Lyle on the second front endpaper: "May 1930 | To Robin Alexander Lyle | with love from his grand- | father. | Alex. Park Lyle." Alexander Park Lyle (1849-1933) was Chairman of the Lyle Shipping Company and created Baronet 26 March 1929. This sumptuously produced volume of autobiography and reminiscences was undoubtedly done in extremely small quantities and at great expense for the family (and possibly close friends).
