Clean stated First Edition, SIGNED by author (association copy - inscribed to her friends), in unclipped dust jacket. Clean black cloth boards with silver lettering on spine; no fading or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Inscribed and signed by author on front free endpaper: "6/6/86 - To Patty, Narong and the girls. Dear friends are more precious than gold! Just sorry that we aren't closer, and can see each other more often! Hope you enjoy my effort. - Lovingly, Dee." Illustrated by Dick Miller. 155 pages. Clean jacket is unchipped, not price clipped, has very slight soiling, fading to spine background; nice photo of author on rear panel; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A first-rate book for young readers, rich in historical appeal and adventure. The date is 1560 and the place is the shores of Florida. Sages hero, Little No Name--thirteen years old and small for his age-has just slain a deer to prove to the elders of the Tomoka tribe that he is a man. At tribal initiation ceremonies, he becomes Wemico, or Little Chief. Wemico's character is tested to the fullest in a series of breathtaking ordeals, including capture by Spanish slave traders and a daring escape. Seller Inventory # 034672
